If you have children, or if you are just a big kid at heart, then you will be excited to hear that a new playground is coming to the New Riverside area of Bluffton!
This playground is going to be huge, and it will include everything from a climbing wall to a zip line. It’s sure to provide hours of fun for everyone in your family!
The playground will encompass the “New Riverside Barn Property.” This includes the 2,700 square-foot iconic barn structure. The Town of Bluffton bought the 37-acre parcel located at 200 New Riverside Rd. in December, 2018. The sales agreement included the donation of a seven-acre parcel located where South Carolina Highways 46 and 170 intersect. The purchase was the result of a successful strategic partnership of the Town of Bluffton with Palmetto Bluff.
Mayor, Lisa Sulka says “The barn is the first Bluffton asset you see when coming east from Jasper County or the Savannah area.”
“The rustic barn and its surrounding acreage offer our town a wonderful opportunity to provide a public area for gatherings, events and festivals. Town leaders agree the return on investment for open space is priceless. It is crucial to our community’s quality of life.”
The new park is an exciting development for Bluffton residents. It will include many open spaces to host events, including family movie nights and trainings. The area can accommodate up 175 people at one time! The barn has been earmarked as a meeting space where groups large enough may meet – this includes weddings too.
