The best thing about camping in the fall is the weather. It’s usually cool enough that you can enjoy all your favorite outdoor activities without feeling overheated, and there are fewer crowds because it gets dark so late during these winter days! Just pack a jacket for those evenings when temperatures dip below 60 degrees.

Camping is a time to relax and unwind and hiking is a great way to do both. The crisp fall air is a comfortable backdrop to your hike through the Lowcountry. Sycamore trees turn an array of orange, yellow and red as they prepare for winter.
Hiking is a great way to get exercise and relieve stress and the our area’s scenery can be very calming. Fresh air and sunshine are good for your body and your mind, and hiking gives you plenty of both!

Fall is the perfect time to enjoy fishing. The cool weather and fresh food make it an ideal pastime for campers, as well! There are many spots along Lowcountry where you can go out with your friends or family members in search of some tasty catch-of -the day. Make sure before heading off though; get yourself licensed. And, don’t forget to find out what’s biting and what type bait works best.

Kayaking is a great way to take in all the beauty of Fall. The cooler weather means you won’t have trouble staying comfortable on your adventure, and there are plenty of places throughout South Carolina where beginners can learn how easy it is! Creeks, rivers or ocean – whichever suits your – there’s an amazing kayak trip just waiting for you!
There are great nature trails near almost every campground. Take time to walk through the natural beauty of South Carolina’s Lowcountry. You’re sure to see all sorts wildlife, while enjoying this gorgeous scenery. Just don’t forget those bug spray!
