After almost 15 years in the same place, the Society of Bluffton Artists will close its doors at 6 & 8 Church Street.
But, they are still in Old Town. In fact the new location is just across the street. This new home will be a lasting place for the Society, its artist members and art students of all ages. It will not only be a spot where the community comes together for culture and art but also a long–term investment in Bluffton’s creative future.
For over 20 years, the Society of Bluffton Artists has stood as a symbol of Bluffton’s creativity and small–town charm. It’s more than just a place to see art—it has played a big role in making Old Town a lively area for culture, art and bringing people together.
SOBA provides a professional, welcoming space where more than 100 local artists can showcase and sell their work throughout the year. The gallery’s rotating exhibits, community events and volunteer-driven spirit give artists opportunities to connect

From January 5 to February 15, the Society of Bluffton Artists held a special exhibition of Betty Thorpe Hintz’s artwork. The exhibit not only honored the life and legacy of Betty, but all proceeds from her artwork sales supported the new home for the SOBA Gallery. Betty Thorpe Hintz was of the seven founding members of SOBA and a well–loved Lowcountry artist. The Hintz family generously donated Betty’s artwork to the Society of Bluffton Artists.
