First Tee of the Lowcountry invites local kids and teens to join them for the day and enjoy their facilities.
First Tee strives to empower local youths through the game of golf. They offer a full size driving range, par 3 golf course, and Beaufort County’s only disc golf course! They host all sorts of classes, camps and other special events at our campus. First Tee is part of a national organization that reaches 3.7 million children annually. First Tee programs are open to everyone, and about half of participating children do so through scholarships.
In 2021, First Tee served 501 kids in the local program. They are also reaching 14,000 children through elementary P.E. classes in Beaufort and Jasper Counties. This makes it sound like there is a robust staff behind these efforts, but this nonprofit has two part-time employees and two full-time employees. “The rest are volunteers,” says Zuk. “All the coaches are volunteers, the people who help maintain the facility are volunteers, our admin are volunteers. We always have 50 or more at once, and then that number swells to 75 or 100 over the summer.”
Practice Range:
Our Driving Range is 325 yards from end to end allowing you to hit any club you desire. You check in our front office, and then they send you on your way to the range. Then, help yourself to as many golf balls you wish to hit. There are also golf clubs of all sizes and hands as well as training aids for you to borrow while you are visiting.
6 Hole Par-3 Course:
The six hole, par-3 course is set up very favorable to those who are just learning the game, as well as to those looking to really grind in those scoring yardages. Each hole ranges between 53yds and 114yds. While you are visiting, you may play around as many times as you like.
9 Hole Disc Golf Course:
The Disc Golf Course surrounds the perimeter of the driving range. Each hole is a par 3 with two sets of tees (White and Blue). Keep in mind we have very limited hours due to conflicts with children being on the playgrounds of the Boys and Girls Club. We do have a limited supply of discs for you to borrow while you are here.
Cost:
- Adults: $10 per visit (hit or play all you want)
- Kids 17 and under: $5 per visit
- First Tee Participants: Free
- Unlimited Use for a month: $50
- Credit Cards accepted
