May 13: The Society of Bluffton Artists (SoBA) will host a free watercolor demonstration from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at The Center for Creative Arts building next door to the gallery, located at 8 Church Street in Old Town Bluffton. This event is open to the public. A donation of $5 to $10 is requested.
David Rankin, a nationally known watercolorist, will demonstrate a technique he refers to as Watercolor Dazzle. The elegant magic of watercolor is created through an artful combination of soft and sharp effects. These elements, when combined correctly, create an amazing perceptual effect that “dazzles” the viewer’s eye and creates charm in any subject.
Rankin will lead a three-day artists workshop called “Painting the Grand Illusion” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 21-23 with lunch breaks at The Center for Creative Arts. The cost is $325 for members and $350 for non-members.
