The Palmetto Plant Eaters Club, a PlantPure Nation pod group that meets monthly (free & open to the public) to educate and support plant-based eating, will be hosting Chef Michelle Grandy as its guest speaker on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Lowcountry at 110 Malphrus Road in Bluffton, SC. She will be discussing her vegan meal service, corporate wellness, and will be bringing samples of her food to share.
Chef Michelle’s love affair with cooking began at the age of nine growing up in the inner City of Washington, D.C. Throughout the years Michelle has developed skillful techniques in different areas of the kitchen, including working with world-renowned Raw Vegan, Lou Corona. Her wide experience in balancing flavor, texture, taste and healthy eating brings the best of all cultures to the table. She mastered to perfection with proper on-the-job training in her own kitchens throughout the States while living in D.C., Atlanta, NY and SC. Almost eight years later she embraces her love for vegan cooking with creativity, passion, healing and love.
What helped Michelle evolve from a culinary graduate of eating animal based foods to a seasoned and talented vegan chef, is her knowledge and affinity for health, food ingredients, along with her ability to uncover flavors that mimics her Grandmothers’ cooking without compromising taste.
Chef Michelle suffered a lifetime of chronic lung disease until she took her health in her own hands. In 2009 while on a flight to San Diego, she read a book that changed her life. Michelle entered the plane an omnivore and exited a vegan; three months later she was no longer dependent on prescription asthma medication. Through embracing a 100 percent whole foods plant based diet, she healed herself through reversing asthma of what doctors insisted was an incurable ailment. During that journey the vision to share and help others through her experiences and education was realized.
Michelle has co-authored a couple Amazon Bestselling books, including her first inspirational book, “Ohhmazing Wellness: Shift Your Vision and Create the Healthy and Happy Life You Deserve.” She has also studied under the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and Cornell University’s Plant Based Nutrition program and under the direction of Raw Vegan, Lou Corona during an 11-day one-on-one teaching. She has taught and presented many vegan cooking classes and has facilitated health and wellness presentations for Canyon Ranch Institute and Corporate Wellness events. Most of all, Chef Michelle loves good food and loves sharing it with others.
