The Mary Green Men’s Chorale will open its second season with two Veterans Day Tribute performances – one on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at St. Gregory the Great in Bluffton and one on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016 at Holy Family Church on Hilton Head Island, both at 7:30 p.m. Net proceeds from both concerts will benefit The Mercy Center in Hardeeville.
The program, led by Artistic Director Mary Woodmansee Green and accompanied by pianist Gerald Anderson and professional instrumentalists, will include members of both the Men’s and Women’s Chorales performing stirring arrangements of the Star-Spangled Banner, the Battle Hymn of the Republic and Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever. The mixed choir will perform Howard Hanson’s moving Song of Democracy, based on text by Walt Whitman, “Americana” selections by Aaron Copland and seasonal Hymns of Thanksgiving. The men will sing such favorites as Stouthearted Men, Over There, Bring Him Home and Mansions of the Lord. The Men’s Chorale will recognize and honor the veterans of each branch of service with a powerful rendition of Tribute to the Armed Forces.
All tickets for these benefit concerts are $25 (open seating) and may be purchased online at marygreenmenschorale.org.
