Every year along the South Carolina coast, residents and tourists alike are invited to Bluffton’s Oyster Factory Park to help clean up the shoreline throughout the May River. Every citizen is considered a scientist and records every piece of debris they find. The information is then sent off to the state of South Carolina’s Department of Natural Resources to help them better understand the patterns of littering in each area.
Gloves, sunscreen, bug repellent, and trash bags to pick up any and all debris found, are provided by the events sponsors. Show up early for snacks and drinks. Be a part of the solution of preserving the May River, Bluffton’s most cherished natural resource. Just bring yourself and wear comfortable clothes/shoes.
