April 25: Art and Environment After Hours! Sweetgrass Basket Workshop, presenter Daurus Niles – $65 per person ($15 program + $50 materials). Learn about the history of the Sweetgrass basket, one of the Lowcountry’s best known art forms, from a local 7th generation Gullah basket maker. Then, try your hand at starting a basket of your own using locally found natural materials.
All materials are provided. 5-7 p.m. Appropriate for ages 10 and older (unless otherwise noted in the schedule). Minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 20 for all programs. Only registered paid participants will be admitted into this program. If participants are planning to bring a child, chaperone, spouse, driver, etc. they must also register. At least one adult must accompany each group.
