April 11: Art and Environment After Hours! Indigo Exploration, presenter Peggy Pickett – $15 per person. Journey to the past and “meet” Eliza Lucas Pinckney. In 1739, when Eliza was just 17 years old, her experiments with indigo resulted in a very profitable industry for the colony of South Carolina. Hear her unique story, learn how indigo dye was made, and make your own indigo tie-dye t-shirt to take home. This family friendly educational experience is fun for all ages.
Museum will provide t-shirt sizes child medium to adult XL (one per person).
All materials are provided. 5-7 p.m. Appropriate for ages 10 and older (unless otherwise noted in the schedule). Minimum of 6 participants, maximum of 20 for all programs. Only registered paid participants will be admitted into this program. If participants are planning to bring a child, chaperone, spouse, driver, etc. they must also register. At least one adult must accompany each group.
