February 9: Native Island heritage and culture get the star treatment at this celebration of all things Gullah. Enjoy an afternoon including storytelling from Louise Cohen, music from both the Voices of St. Helena and the Voices of El Shaddai, a lecture on Gullah music and history by Dr. Eric Crawford, Lowcountry food, basket weaving and crafts. This free community festival features lip-smacking Lowcountry specialties such as barbecue ribs, conch stew, shrimp and grits, rice and beans, and okra gumbo. Fun for all ages!
