The BravoPiano Piano! Festival, produced by the Hilton Head International Piano Competition has been rescheduled for June 4–12, 2021.
The Festival, which is presented every three years by the HHIPC, will celebrate the music of the Americas with performances of solo piano, piano with small ensembles and piano with orchestra. All repertoire will be by composers living or having lived in the Americas…countries from Canada to Argentina.
BravoPiano! will take place at various venues throughout the Hilton Head/Bluffton area. World
renowned piano duo Anderson and Roe will kick-off the Festival on June 4th. There will be performances of classical, jazz and Gullah-Geechee music during the week, including a world premiere by American composer Hannah Lash. The Finale concert with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head, on Saturday, June 12th. Conducted by HHSO Music Director John Morris Russell, the Finale will include three works for piano and orchestra. HHIPC Medalist Reed Tetzloff will be playing the 2nd Piano Concerto of Edward McDowell. Michelle Cann will perform the Florence Price Piano Concerto. Composer/pianist Stewart Goodyear will be playing one of his own works for piano and orchestra, Callaloo Suite.
