The May River Shrimp Festival returns for 2023!
The three-day festival will be held July 19th thru the 21st. The event is a celebration of the town’s heritage as a fishing village and features a variety of events and activities focused on local seafood and live music. Some of the festival’s main attractions include a 5K run, arts and crafts vendors, craft beer garden and a wine bar.
Local restaurants and food vendors also set up booths and offer a wide variety of shrimp dishes, including shrimp and grits, shrimp po’boys, shrimp skewers, shrimp burgers and other tasty dishes.

Sunset 5K – Hawaiian Shirt Run
Get ready to put on your favorite Hawaiian shirt and lace up your running shoes for The May River Shrimp Fest Sunset 5K Hawaiian Shirt Run! This exciting event will take place on Wednesday night, July 19th at 7:30 pm, starting and finishing from the Bluffton Oyster Factory Park and taking participants through the charming streets of historic Old Town Bluffton.
The Hawaiian Shirt Run promises to be a fun-filled evening for both walkers and runners alike. Show off your island spirit by wearing your favorite Hawaiian shirt and/or shorts. So, don’t be afraid to bring out the bright colors and patterns, and let’s get our Hawaiian on! Prizes will be awarded for most colorful Flyin Hawaiians.
Registration for the race is open now, and participants can sign up online at bearfootsports.com. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to run, walk, and celebrate the summer in style. All Participants will receive a Hawaiian-themed event t-shirt, Hawaiian Lei, Post Race Refreshments and Beer for adults 21+ only.
May River Shrimp Festival Sunset Parties
The May River Shrimp Festival will be held at The Bluffton Oyster Factory Park on Thursday, July 20th and Friday, July 21st from 5:30-9:30 pm. Entertainers scheduled to perform include “The Chilly Willy Band” and “The Jason Lee Cook Band” on Thursday with “Voodoo Soup” and “The Kelli Baker Band” on Friday Night.
“The May River Shrimp Festival is our marquee event, A celebration of summer on the May River in Bluffton, its about enjoying delicious shrimp and seafood and a chance to party with our friends, family, and neighbors, while listening to some really fantastic music and enjoying a refreshing ice cold beverage at Oyster Factory Park” said Mark Weisner, event organizer.
Bluffton Sunset Parties are held once a month during the summer at Oyster Factory Park, overlooking the May River. Each sundown celebration features a different them. Come by boat, bike, or golf cart. Party with your pooch. Sunset Parties are kid and pet-friendly, Lawn Chairs and leashed pets are permitted, but no outside food or drinks will be allowed.
The Bluffton May River Shrimp Festival is a fun and vibrant celebration of the local community, seafood, and culture.
Tickets can also be purchased at the door, while children 12 & under get in for FREE.
