April 9 – 15: RBC Heritage, which for 2012 will return to its traditional week in April immediately following the Masters Tournament, has been an important element of South Carolina’s culture and economy since 1969, when it debuted at the Pete Dye-designed Harbour Town Golf Links. 2011 Heritage tournament winner Brandt Snedeker.

Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival

March 5 – 10: The 27th Annual Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival brings together wine, spirits and food lovers for a six-day Festival. The Festival provides wine lovers and gourmet foodies alike, an opportunity to sample outstanding domestic and international wines and some of the Lowcountry’s best cuisine.

March 1 – April 30:
“Civil War in the Lowcountry,” an exhibition tracing the early history of the Civil War on Hilton Head Island utilizing historic records, artifacts, historic artwork, journal entries, letters and other documents, is on display at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. 70 Honey Horn Dr. (843) 689-6767 or coastaldiscovery.org.

Gullah Heritage Trail Tours depart from the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, Tuesday-Sunday. Experience the Gullah culture of Hilton Head Island on a two-hour tour of 10 neighborhoods established during the Civil War. The South Carolina Repertory Company presents “The Cocktail Hour” by A.R. Gurney and directed by Tom Evans. John returns home to his family with his new play, written about them. March 2 – 3:
