Bluffton Historical Preservation Society

where history meets southern hospitality...

Founded in 1981, the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society is dedicated to preserving Bluffton's distinctive history. The society helped save the historic Heyward House, which now operates as a house museum and the town's official welcome center, and has collected significant archival materials pertaining to the town's history. In addition, the organization erected a number of historic markers throughout the Bluffton area to increase awareness of town's historic legacy.

The Bluffton Historical Preservation Society played a critical role in the town being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. The organization recently published the popular book, A Guide to Historic Bluffton, and continues to work to ensure that the town's history will be preserved for future generations.
