BEAUFORT COUNTY LOBBIES TO RECEIVE $86 MILLION IN ROADS
10/28/2008
Beaufort County and local municipal officials recently traveled to Charleston to lobby the South Carolina Transportation Infrastructure Bank board for money to finance completion of the Bluffton Parkway Phase 5A and B and the widening of S.C. 170.
Also included on the list of top roadway priorities is the widening of S.C. 802, also known as the Savannah Highway, and the widening of S.C. 802, or Lady’s Island Drive, which includes a new bridge over the Beaufort River.
The board formally approved the acceptance of the county’s application. The approval clears the way for the board to do further evaluation of the requests that will include a trip to Beaufort County to see the projects on-site. The board depends on the General Assembly to for budgetary funding for 2009.
